It Has Been A Rough Year

I am adding this additional chapter to my introduction, because after I initially wrote the introduction, it was very difficult to come back to it and try to make sense of all that I have experienced through the various stages of my life and the trials that I have endured or overcome.  I wish ...

"Rock me to sleep."

When I was a kid, I can remember my parents starting to fight, I was in the second grade or so.  I remember because it would wake me up at night, my brother could sleep through anything, but I would wake up and I was scared.  I don't remember them ever fighting before this, at least not where I could hear.  I would get up and leave the house, middle of the night, in my pajamas.  I would walk next door.  I do not remember now what I would say, or what they would say, I don't even remember if I put shoes on.  What I remember is sleeping in Ebony's bed with her.  It was a water bed.  Ebony had this habit of bouncing her head when she would go to sleep.  So, there I would lay, the waves of the waterbed lulling me to sleep.
I don't remember the next day, I don't remember if I went home, or if the neighbors had even told my parents that night that I was there.  They probably did, my parents probably came to get me after I was asleep.  I just remember that for those moments before I fell asleep, feeling safe and secure where no harsh words were being yelled.  Rocked to sleep on the gentle waves of a waterbed.

In the middle of the night?

Thanks Sarah, you took me back to a time when neighbors knew each other and took care of each other.

I haven't visited SOML either in a while. I too am glad to see that you are writing stories again. I wish they were more neighbors like your neighbors now-a-days. No one seems to look out for one another anymore. Waiting for more stories.
