On March 18, 1966 my Mother was doing her ironing and my Nana called her to talk to her when Mother groaned a little and Nana told her she would be right over. Mom was officially in labor! See Mother lost two babies before me and the Dr felt she wouldn't be able to carry full term. They had to put mom to sleep because she had eaten something recently. When I was born my Father and grandmother were in the waiting room waiting to hear about the baby that was coming. The nurse came out and said, Mr. McKenney? He said, yes. She said congratulations, you have a baby girl! He said, "oh" then looked up and said, "a girl"? and jumped up and said, "I have a girl"! "Really"? and he jumped in the air and hollered, "It's a girl"! My Grammy was very excited as well. She always wanted a girl herself but she had a beautiful boy! My Dad of course!
