It Has Been A Rough Year

I am adding this additional chapter to my introduction, because after I initially wrote the introduction, it was very difficult to come back to it and try to make sense of all that I have experienced through the various stages of my life and the trials that I have endured or overcome.  I wish ...

"Betrayed by a "Friend""

On Friday, Feb 29, 2008, I was betrayed by someone I thought was a friend. It went down like this.

I wasn't looking for a change. I really like my current job (word and not just because they might read this!), and there is probably only ONE job in the world I'd leave my current job for right now (except being King of England or some shiz like that), and I had a shot at it. And I went for it, fully telling my boss what I was doing - don't like to disrespect people behind their backs. Let's jus say it had something to do related to the coming winter olympics, am I live to ski man.

One of my co-workers overheard me. Everyone thought it was really cool because they know how much I love winter stuff and coming to Canada and all that is really whack. If someone made me define a dream job that would be it. Right, so me and this colleague go out to lunch, and one my mates joins us. I didn't even say anything about the gig, but my co-worker was asking me questions, mostly about how cool it was, when I would leave the company etc...

See, my friend, or former friend now, is super competitive. In like everything. Work, girls, skiing. You name it, he's got to try and one up you. Normally it's just a joke among us that he's like this, but man sometimes he goes wicked overboard and we have to smack him down some.

He started asking all sorts of questions about it. I didn't really give details to him, and I thought it was kinda weird that he kept asking.

Long story short, I found out yesterday that he has a connection to this job through his family, which has a lot of money, and with money comes connections and power. He made a few calls, got his girlfriend the interview, and i'm assuming got any chance he could to put in a negative word about me, although he knows NOTHING about my work or even wtf I do.

I got a call postponing the interview "indefinitely" while they "make some categorical changes" internally. Huh? WTF does that mean.

I didn't put two and two together, and maybe never would have, until his stupid ass was out drinking last Saturday and he was blabbing and bragging about what he did. My other mates called and told me.

I haven't slept a wink last night. I twist between wanting to kick his ass, and devising cruel ways to get even with him, get my revenge. But mostly I'm disgusted and I'm really f-ing angry, like I want to go punch holes in the wall (or his smug teeth down his throat).

It's so not cool. You don't mess with stuff like that. I"m prayin to god that there is karma, because it will come back to haunt him, all this shiz he pulls.

people like that....argh...can I say it again? SUCK. I'm with you on the karma thing...I hope it's out there...because I know a few that I am also hoping get their just rewards...and this "friend' of yours definitely deserves some BIG ones from the bite-him-in-the-butt monster.
