This is the first picture taken of me inside the airlock going into containment at Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant in MN. They were a little more lenient with taking pictures back then. I was pretending to control the airlock doors. At some point in time we need to enter containment with one door open at one time to maintain containment integrity and air pressure. Then at another point in time during the outage when the reactor is completely shut down we are able to open both doors for easier access. I was so concerned about my hair back then. I was wearing a skull cap but you can barely see it. We are supposed to tuck all our hair under the cap so we protect it from contamination. I don't care what I look like anymore when I'm at work. I think it's ridiculous to get all dolled up when I start dripping sweat and I'm wearing a hardhat and safety glasses. 19 and oh so young! | |
