Greetings everyone! My name is Sam and I am welcoming all of you and introducing myself to you. I am the new Community Relations Director for Story of My Life. My first official day on the day is Monday, and I am VERY excited to be here. I am here to help you.
So what is my job here exactly? What is it that a "Community Relations Director" does? I am working on helping to build community within the site. We have some exciting intiatives that will drive these endeavors which we'll be rolling out throughout the year. My passion is building communities whether online or face to face. Having people - whether family, friends, colleagues, interest groups or even just admirers, I want to help facilitate communication among members to help people stay connected. My background is in non-profit entities and no charity group survives without building great community.
I will be commenting on your stories, helping people connect, managing some groups, and generally here to act as your cheerleader as you write and share stories with your family and friends (or the world if you choose!) and guide you through anything you might need.
For those of you who publish Stories publicly - whether through written Stories (text), Video, or Audio oral histories - we will also be reaching out into the online communities to showcase your stories and pictures and so on through popular social networking sites such as twitter and digg.
I am also here to help answer questions. Having a problem on the site? Confused about anything? Want to add a suggestion or feature to the site? Anything really bugging you that we can do better? Please feel free to contact me at any time. If I can't help you, someone here can!
