It Has Been A Rough Year

I am adding this additional chapter to my introduction, because after I initially wrote the introduction, it was very difficult to come back to it and try to make sense of all that I have experienced through the various stages of my life and the trials that I have endured or overcome.  I wish ...

My 32 yr old son was diagnosed with schizophrenia just over 14 yrs ago.  It has been a long sad journey for he and I since that day.  Even his own father (they are a spitting image of each others good looks) hasn't spoken to our son for 9 yrs.  At the height of his illness, he believed that his dad was gay and had abused him.  I know that is not true, but you have to understand the illness to know that these are some of the things my son thinks and says.  Some days he thinks I am a pedophile.  It can be terrible, yet I am so happy to say that after almost a year at Hamerity ward, he is now in a wonderful group home on the Shore.  I have been divorced from his father for 29 years and being in the dating world, has been difficult.  Many men run from me when I tell him, and yet I am considered a beautiful woman, articulate, financially stable, and loads of personality.  The stigma is still around, and is so sad.  We need more articles or shows on TV to let people know that these poor souls with this illness, have mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, children....just like you and me.  Thank you for listening.

Not to be invasive, but post some of your experiences with him/them.  Open up your experiences and expand on them. He was a baby at 3 when you divorced, did you raise him alone?  You can start by letting the world know your plight.
