It Has Been A Rough Year

I am adding this additional chapter to my introduction, because after I initially wrote the introduction, it was very difficult to come back to it and try to make sense of all that I have experienced through the various stages of my life and the trials that I have endured or overcome.  I wish ...

I am 6 yrs old now so time to start first grade and I went to Dora Elem. There were no kindergarden at that time. I went to a all white schools because they did not allow any other kind to go there. My mom told me that it was hard to get the school to accept me because they though I was black and she had to explain that my dad was part Indian. I was darker than the other kids and even my twin sister who was blond and blue eyes. I had dark brown curley hair and I did not get accepted even by the other kids who new me. I was always in trouble in first grade. There was a girl in my class who hated me and she would pick on me and when I picked back she would cry. I guess the teacher was more favored toward her because she was crippled and in a wheel chair. Her name is Wanda Quin. I cannot really remember if I was the bully or if she was but I got to stand with my nose in a circle at the blackboard on plenty of occassions. I felt innocent and I did not care if I was up there or not it did not stop me from harrassing her. I can remember one time in class I ask the teacher if I could go to the bathroom because I really had to pee and the teacher said NO, so I peed in the floor and it ran down in front of her desk and all I could say is I said I had to go pee. I did not like this teacher at all. In second grade I had Mrs. Alexzander and she was great she hugged all her kids and said hi or bye. In the schools in those days we had prayer and pledge of alligience. They believe in GOD and the flag. What a great time in history. These early years in life is very important and that is when and how I also remembered the worst times. I have a brother name Carlon who started beating on me and biting me. My sister picked on me also more than I needed. She would take my toys and mess them up and hers toys would always look new. I remember my brother Carlon blocking me and my sister in the closet and rubbing his self on us. He did not take his penis out of his pants he would just rub. I had a friend name Mary Ann Browning and she was born August 23, 1954 also. Mary had three other sisters Debra, Glenda and the oldest was Regina. Mary also had the meanest brother Ricky Dale and his dad would put him up to throwing rocks at us and his sisters. I never trusted Mary's dad he always looked like a molester to me. I also remembered a boy and his sister living on Sutton road who grabbed my arm and my sister also and he took his penis out and he wanted me to put my mouth on it and I said NO. He said his sister does it all the time and by that time my mom called out for us and Arlene got away and I still said no and he still had my arms and mom called again and I broke away and ran. I never talked to that girl ever again. My brother Danny and sister Annie was born June 15th 1957. I do not remember much about that but my little sister died at the hospital. My mom told me that a nurse was in a hurry to get out of work when her shift ended that she left the bottle in the baby's mouth and Annie strangle to death. I do not remember the funeral but I do have pictures of the grave site. Febuary 1, 1962 Jerry and Terry were born. Jerry was first and seven minutes later Terry was born but he came feet first and was rupture so they had to operate. I remember that while the boys were still infants mom and dad took us to Jacksonville Fla. near the big ocean waves. We had to sleep in the car all seven of us. I remember getting an ear ack and believe me that was no fun. Danny was dad's favorite after Johnny. I guest you can say I was mom's favorite. I think that is mainly why Arlene picked on me so much. I believe that between my sister Arlene and my brother Carlon I was abuse and molested as a child along with cousins wanting to kiss and play house just the kissing.

Geez

There is both a lot of hope and a lot of pain in this story. I hope that you were able to move past the pain, Darlene.
