A year since my near death experience, I had almost made a complete recovery. I still had some problems with weakness in my leg muscles. I had also noticed some short-term memory loss. The neuropathy in my feet was almost completely gone. I had been driving to and from dialysis for about six months and I had been driving to and from John's work for about a month. The transmission went out in his pick up on his way home from work one Friday and got stuck in gear.
I had applied to the local community colleges and I had planned on going back to school in the winter quarter. I planned to study Business Management or Accounting. I would have liked to take some Music courses too, but I did not know which I wanted to go. I would love to take some vocal courses and maybe some private guitar lessons. John bought me an acoustic guitar a few years before my near death experience and I have yet to master it. I asked my sister, Kelli, to teach me, but she said her now ex-husband, Chris, would be better at it. Then I kept getting sick and ending up in the hospital so we never got a chance to get together. I bought some books and videos and that helped me learned some chords, but I really need to take lessons. I learn better with just me and a music tutor or teacher.
I decided to postpone my return to school for a little while. I needed time to build up a little more strength in my legs. I just didn't think that I would be able to walk around campus for very long or very far. I will go back to school at some point to get a degree in either Accounting, Business Management or Music.
