Summer 2005 and it's our family's turn to go over to America to see Jonathan's brother, Dave, his wife, Tracy and son, Steve. The plan was to start at their house in Charlottesville, go on to a rental cottage at Smith Mountain lake and end the fortnight up in Washington D.C.

This is our fabulous holiday home next to the lake. The house came with it's own power boat!

This boat was an excellent addition to our holiday and gave us all endless hours of fun dragging each other around in an inflatable doughnut behind it.

When the heat got to much down at the lake, Jonathan and Dave took Max and Steve up into the mountain for some manly walks.

max taking a well-earned break!
Something to remember about this holiday was the heat - Jonathan and his brother took the opportunity to look like mad English men and go running in it!

After a relaxing week we then packed up and headed off to Washington D.C. for some serious sightseeing. First stop The White House......oh no it isn't.....apparently you can only go on a tour of The White House if you get intouch with your Congressman in advance and arrange it. I was very disappointed indeed as this had been something I had been really looking forward to.

The nearest I got to The White House
Next stop, The National Air and Space Museum - great place for boys, and air-conditioned!(did I mention that it was hot!!) Max would have been less hot if he had worn shorts....but he refused......

Boys refusing to look for the photo because they are too hot
And finally.....a picture of all the teddies Luke took with him to America
