Well I got a new case, I am a case manager with child protective services, I actually got 4 or 5, but we'll start with this one. I won't go into why I got the case, there are some cases I won't say why I got involved, I feel that telling some things is just exploitive. Any way I go out to meet the family. I pull into a driveway, in the country, a double wide, doesn't look that bad from the outside. Mom is outside with 2 little ones, she's hanging up clothes. That's a plus. Mom is friendly, but you can tell from the smile that she's a little slow. The great dane wants to greet me very much, but doing so would have put me on the ground so mom held the dane back. I asked to go in the house, I was given permission but told the house is a "little messy". Up the steps and into the door, well can't step on the floor cause the floor is covered in dirty clothes, but this is the laundrey room and there is a horrible loud noise coming from inside cause something is wrong with the dryer, but mom's using it anyway. I stumble into the home to be welcomed by the ever so pungent aroma of cat and dog urine, the sort that makes your head and nostrils scream in pain. Once inthe home, you can see that mom tries to clean up clutter, there was no clutter, but there were some type of food crumbs scattered all over the floor. The furniture was old and covered in what looked like urine stains, and the dogs are allowed to come in and out of the home freely. (there were several dogs).
Next I tried to call a grandma for another case I inherited from another "place" (not our agency's case) to come see kids whose parents are in this other place, and this place asked me to go see the kids, this was my first attempt to contact family, I get a long drawn out story from grandma about what happened to cause the kids to be in her home, then I get told that no, she is not going to allow me to come see the children cause she is unhappy with the people who are asking me to come see the children.
Next I get a phone call from a woman who says she wants to report child abuse on her neice's baby. Her neice is living with the baby in a nasty home. Her neice moves from home to home. The baby's father was in a group home when he was a kid for anger problems. Her Neice lives with the paternal grandparents and has "fit" with paternal uncle. (WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?) it means they were fighting. Why did she decide to make a report today??? because her neice took a restraing order out on her cause when the neice wouldn't tell her where the baby was staying while the neice is working, they "fit"over it. (The father of this baby made a false report on another family that lives nearby 2 weeks ago)
