“A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie.”

~Tenneva Jordan

**!Note! the deadline has been extended by 1 day. Our Advisory Board is pitching in to make sure we have enough time before the holiday - so that gives you an extra day to write! If you've already submitted and want to re-submit or update, please resend with a note saying so.**

Does this sound like your Mother? Or was your mother a feisty, independent sort? Whatever type of Mother you have, she helped in shaping who you are today. No doubt that even Abraham Lincoln would agree with that sentiment!

This Mother’s Day, Story of My Life has created a Mother’s Day Story Contest to honor all mothers. The contest is designed to capture stories about mothers and the indelible impression they make on us. It can also be about a “motherly figure” who influenced your life (if not your biological mother).

We'll send the winner's MOTHER (or person of choice) a GIFT BASKET for the winner’s Story.

The rules are simple:

  1. write a story of at least 500 words about your mother (or a motherly figure in your life), send it to us with a photo, your name and her name, no later than Thursday May 7th, 2009 6pm P.S.T. by email to:  admin@storyofmylife.com
  2. the Advisory Board will choose a favorite Mother’s Day story
  3. all Stories will be published on Mother's Day - May 10, 2009

We will notify the winner and ship the gift basket to the person of their choice.

The Mother’s Day Story Contest is to give you the opportunity to tell about special things your mother has done, how your family was important, or even a humorous story about mom. Tell us about how your Mother influenced you, or a funny anecdote, or what her love means to you!

“Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.”

~Elizabeth Stone

Can anyone submit this? Does the mother have to be living still to win?

Just send them to us admin@storyofmylife.com and we'll be collecting them and posting. Please pass along to anyone.

If you want to write about a mother/motherly person in your life, but she's no longer living, just tell us who to send the goodies to (wife, teacher, whatever). Thanks for asking... Kristen

You know me; I'm prolific; actually this particular story would be hard to cut.

Will you be able to acknowledge that you received an entry or will we just have to assume (and hope) it was received?
